Type 1 Diabetes, Technology, and Privacy

Do you want to share your opinions on how technology (diabetes technology, mobile phones, social media, and the internet) can help individuals manage their type 1 diabetes (T1D)?
Who is eligible for this study?
Individuals with type 1 diabetes (T1D):
- • Has type 1 diabetes
- • English speaker
Friends/parents/guardians of individuals with type 1 diabetes
- • English speaker
What will happen to me in this study?

If you decide to participate, you will take part in one or several individual interviews or focus groups which will occur either virtually (through videoconferencing) or in person.
We may ask you some questions about:
- • Barriers to managing T1D
- • Use of diabetes technology (glucometers, insulin pumps, visual displays of blood sugars and insulin regimens), mobile phones, social media, and the internet
- • Features of diabetes technology, mobile phones, social media, and the internet that might enhance diabetes management for individuals with T1D
- • Concerns about privacy with the use of diabetes technology, mobile phones, social media, and the internet
We may also ask you to do some activities before or after the interviews, including asking you about your technology use, and asking you to keep a diabetes diary for a few days so that we can better understand what life with T1D is like.
How do I get more information about the study?
Feel free to look at the informed consent or informed assent (if you are a child between 10-17 years) to get more information.
The study does provide a small amount of compensation for participating.
